We are just starting out with a vision that we want to be an independent platform for publishing unbiased reviews of novels, critical pieces, and long-form essays on books. Writers form the backbone of any blog, especially the book review website. We are looking to add dedicated and passionate writers to accompany us on this journey. It is a freelance position for reviewers willing to read across genres and warrants more than a 1000-word book review.
Kindly submit a couple of writing samples to help us gauge your writing skill. If you have experience reviewing or working in the book world (reviewing, booksellers, librarians, book marketing, etc.), definitely mention that. We are looking for writers who care about books, irrespective of personal preferences.
Writing guidelines
We have basic guidelines you must meet if you are hired for the position.
- We ask for reviews and essays to be more than a 1,000-words in length. It typically equates to around 12 to 15 short paragraphs.
- Please send completed reviews in a Word document only.
- We will review submitted reviews and articles and undertake a copy-edit and proofreading of the piece to enhance readability and minimize typographical errors.
- We may restructure the sentence(s) and paragraphs if necessary to improve the draft without altering/changing the essence of the review.
